Sublingual Immunotherapy
(SLIT)

SLIT is a treatment for food allergy that uses a specially prepared liquid made from real food, with a small amount placed under the tongue every day. Treatment begins with very small amounts and gradually increases over time at a pace tailored to your child.

The goal can look different for every child. For many children, SLIT is designed to provide greater protections against accidental exposures. Some may achieve higher levels of tolerance over time, potentially allowing greater flexibility around their allergen. 

Together, we'll set goals that make sense for your child and adjust treatment based on their individual response.

Our 24-month Comprehensive SLIT Program Includes: 

Treatment & Monitoring

  • 14 scheduled in-office build-up visits

  • An individualized dosing plan, with the pace adjusted based on your child's needs and response

  • Ongoing monitoring throughout treatment

  • Skin testing, when appropriate, to monitor progress

  • Food challenge, when appropriate, to assess your child's level of protection and tolerance

Support Between Visits

  • Direct access to your board-certified allergist

  • Secure messaging for questions or concerns

  • Guidance for illness, reactions, travel, activities, and other situations that may affect dosing

  • 2 urgent visits per year (in-person or virtual)

Everyday Food Allergy Support 

  • School and medication authorization forms 

  • Ongoing guidance as your child's needs change throughout treatment
