Avoidance & epinephrine
Not every family is ready for- or needs- active food allergy treatment. For some children, continuing to avoid their allergens while carrying epinephrine may be the right approach for this stage of life.
Choosing avoidance doesn't mean navigating food allergy on your own. We can continue to work closely with your family to make everyday life with food allergy feel safer and more manageable.
Together, we can focus on:
-
Reduced accidental exposures by identifying where risks are most likely to occur at home, school, restaurants, travel and everyday activities
-
Building confidence around food by helping you understand labels, cross-contact, and when precautionary avoidance is- or isn't- necessary
-
Being prepared for reactions with an individualized emergency plan and confidence about when and how to use epinephrine
-
Avoiding unnecessary restriction by periodically reassessing your child's allergies and considering food challenges when appropriate
-
Keeping options open as your child grows, your family's goals change, or new treatment options become available
Food allergy management doesn't have to be all-or-nothing. Our goal is to help you child stay safe while also allowing them to live as full and confidently as possible.
