Xolair (Omalizumab)
Xolair (Omalizumab) is an injectable medication that targets IgE, an antibody that plays a key role in food allergic reactions. In 2024, Xolair became the first medications approved to treat children and adults with one or more food allergies by helping increase protection against reactions from accidental exposures.
The goal can look different for every child. For some, Xolair may provide an added layer of protection while continuing to avoid their allergens. For others, it may be used alongside Oral Immunotherapy (OIT) or Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT) as part of a broader treatment plan.

Understanding Your Child's Protection
As treatment progresses, carefully supervised food challenges may be considered t better understand how much protection Xolair is providing your child. These challenges can help us individualize recommendations and explore whether greater flexibility around certain foods may be possible.
